Frozen Nets, Unseen Threats

In the icy waters off Greenland, abandoned fishing gear — also known as ghost nets — posed a deadly risk to marine life. WasteFree teamed up with local crews to retrieve over 1.2 tons of plastic waste from beneath the surface. With minimal equipment and maximum determination, the team restored crucial habitats for seals, fish, and migratory birds.

Restoring Balance in the Bay

The San Francisco Bay, once littered with microplastics and fast-food waste, now tells a different story. In partnership with schools and communities, WasteFree led weekly shoreline cleanups and installed smart waste filters in key storm drains. Over 80,000 pieces of trash were removed in just 6 months.
